Top Mobile Phones in 2008 Part 1

Year 2008 marks the downturn of the world economy. Electronic giants such as Sony posted loss of more than 250 billion yen for their financial year. Such a massive operating loss was the first for Sony. The same happened to Samsung, Nokia and the other mobile phones companies. Despite all these, 2008 had a lot to offer with many new models been released.

Here's the list of the best mobile phones in 2008:

Apple iPhone 3G: Apple Inc. has always been able to design the most intuitive and innovative products. One of them is the iPhone. iPhone lacked of 3G connectivity was made up by the release of iPhone 3G. iPhone 3G created so much buzz that it was listed in almost everyone's must have gadget list. It has a smooth multi-touch interface, but poor camera quality and lack of multi-tasking capability.

BlackBerry Bold: This is one of the mobile phones that created the greatest interest in tech geeks and business users. BlackBerry Bold supports 3G with a great user interface design and it comes with a real web browser. The black exterior has chrome-finished frame with faux leather back that makes it one of the most elegant looking phone out in the market.

Blackberry Storm: The Blackberry Storm comes with an innovative touch screen and “clickthrough” user interface. It also provides the user tactile feedback to confirm his selection. The mobile phone is equipped with GPS and a 3.2 mega-pixel camera.

Google G1 Phone: This is the first phone from Google and it is the first phone that runs on Google Android, an open source operating system launched by Google. Made by High Tech Computer Corporation aka HTC, the Google G1 phone is a multi-touch phone and is similar to old HTC devices and comes with a physical keyboard.

HTC Touch HD: Released in November 2008, the HTC Touch HD supports both 2G and 3G network. The phone comes with WVGA screen that supports TouchFLO 3D. It also has accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, touch-sensitive navigation controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and handwriting recognition.

HTC Touch 3G: Another great product from HTC, the HTC Touch 3G runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. The phone also sports, HTC’s TouchFlo user-interface that allows users to control menu through finger gestures. The phone is equipped with 2.8 inch QVGA touch screen.

HTC Touch Viva: The HTC Touch Viva is a great phone for browsing the net. It was released at the same time with HTC Touch 3G and the two shares lots of common features. However, the HTC Touch Viva comes with a WiFi card and it has a 2 mega-pixel camera and its 2.8 inch touch screen that has four times more resolution then other phones in the market.

HTC Touch Pro: The best thing about this mobile phone is its sleek design and its TouchFLO 3D interface, which is very fast and responsive. The phone also sports some great animated graphics and icons which make this device look very charming. If you are one of those fashion conscious users, then this is the right phone for you. However, it is thicker than its predecessor, HTC Touch Diamond.

HTC Touch Diamond: You can call it the true “iPhone Killer.” The HTC Touch Diamond capitalizes on the touch factor that was first started by the iPhone. This windows based mobile phone is very well crafted and user friendly. It comes with a 2.8” touch-screen. The major feature of the phone is its beautiful design.

Nokia E71: It is one of the top smart phones of 2008. The chrome finish contributes to its sleek design and it comes at an affordable price. There’s a 320×240 screen, which is quite sharp. The Nokia E71 supports 850MHz/1900MHz UMTS/HSDPA. It comes with A-GPS, WiFi, 3.2 mega-pixel camera, A2DP Bluetooth, 110MB of built-in memory and a microSD slot.

It is a quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 and it can automatically switch between GSM bands and Flight mode. The phone runs on Symbian OS version 9.3. It also has a 74 MB internal dynamic memory with 78 MB internal NAND flash memory.

Motorola and Ferrari Phone

Motorola and Ferrari announced on Jan 26 its new RAZRmaxx V6 Ferrari Challenge Mobile Phone Limited Edition. What a super long name for a phone! The longest name for a phone PERHAPS!

Sporting the famous cavallino rampante on the outside of the clamshell, genuine Ferrari V8 sound effects, red backlighting, themed wallpapers and car photos complete the branding, while the USD$635 price also gives it that desired Ferrari exclusivity. For this price, I guess only Ferrari fanatics need apply.
